11 European states came to Romania’s assistance in the attempt to limit the number of deaths and serious cases. Of course, the aid was demanded by our country, by ESD, invoking that European solidarity mechanism. Hungary is the first country that jumped in to help and offered to treat 50 serious cases of COVID.

The scenario is now clear. Klaus Iohannis appointed Dacian Cioloș as prime minister to teach him a lesson, not to solve any crisis. Here is the president’s statement from five days ago: “The political crisis needs to end, created by certain individuals (USR) who wanted to show how important they are but managed to demonstrate only how unimportant they are”. Mister Klaus can’t even hold back anymore.

If we were to summarize Nicoale Ciucă’s career, as Defense Minister, it would look as you see below. An “expert” who, as Murphy would say, failed in all fields he was active in. To that add a despicable fake-news related to a “battle” that never existed: Nasiriyah.

On Sunday, September 12th 2021, the Border Guard in Dorohoi shot several fires attempting to catch a few people who supposedly smuggled cigarettes at the Ukrainian border. “Taking advantage of the terrain’s layout, the people retreated towards the village of Corjăuţi”, although they were shot at like it was the Kabul airport. They did not catch the smugglers, who were faster than the bullet, but “captured” 9.000 cigarette packs.

Piranha 5, an equipping programme drowned at the shore
by Cristina Pastia 2 years ago
The saga about equipping the Romanian Army is at a new embarrassing chapter: purchasing armoured carriers. Some military “equipment” that is vulnerable to water, has a communication system incompatible with that of the Romanian Army and, as if it wasn’t enough, we don’t even know who has to make them.

Prime minister Cîțu and the ORNISS certificate. Who’s lying?
by Cristina Pastia 2 years ago
Florin Cîțu should have, as Finance minister, then as prime minister, “apply” for obtaining the ORNISS certificate, which eventually allows him to have access to top secret information, state information. Well, the questionnaire for ORNISS has a heading in which you have to answer if you had any convictions or not, in general, if you committed any crimes. In all your life, there is no time period specified.

Environmental quality, NATO priority. Canada “builds” based on a Romanian project
by Cristina Pastia 3 years ago
In 2018, as a result of a collaboration Protocol signed by the Minister of National Defence, it has been agreed upon, among others, founding a NATO Excellence Centre for environmental protection. Moreover, OUG 50/2019 was establishing a first financing line, and HG 191/2020 was giving MApN land in that respect. Romania had the presidency of the only NATO environmental protection group, and a few countries were clearly manifesting their wish to be part of this project.

The BCG vaccine section in the Cantacuzino Institute has been shut down
by Cristina Pastia 3 years ago
According to the new organisational structure of the Cantacuzino Institute the BCG vaccine section has been shut down. That is exactly the department that would produce the vaccine against tuberculosis. It would not be such a big deal, things keep getting shut down, why should we care? Firstly, because they promised they would not shut anything down.

by Cristina Pastia 3 years ago
In these times we said goodbye not only to our usual social life but also to sport competitions. We also have to keep in mind that sport means more than just emotion and adrenaline: money and jobs. The pandemic could have destroyed 300.000 jobs and could cause losses between 16 and 20 billion euro.

    Group immunity or gang immunity?
by Cristina Pastia 3 years ago
Given the conditions, given the devastating effects of quarantine on people, the actions of the Health Ministry seem normal. To publish information about infections, about vaccination. It would be good for our heads, to speak in a Romanian manner. But the road to hell… For example, why was the “quarantining hour” set back from 23 to 22? The prime minister says he noticed this curfew was not respected during the winter. How was it? The number of infections dropped exactly during the winter!

Catastrophic earthquake in a fallen Romania
by Cristina Pastia 3 years ago
44 years ago the strongest earthquake to affect modern Romania was happening. Eversince, the imminence of a more or less catastrophic earthquake is periodically brought into the attention of the public opinion. Actually, for us, it is hard to say what a “catastrophic earthquake” means, given the bad state in which thousands of buildings are. So we can “easily” label as downright dangerous any earthquake of over 6 on the Richter scale.

TAROM, in restructuring. But there is no plan to stop the swooping
by Cristina Pastia 3 years ago
The national company TAROM, in the past the pearl of transport services in Romania. Now, a company fallen both literally and figuratively. The pandemic only showed the deplorable state in which it is, and for some specialists it is not the reason of its decline. Just one more millstone at the “neck” of the company.

by Cristina Pastia 3 years ago
After 2 weeks of insistence the number of people who got infected with COVID 19 after the vaccination with the first dose has finally been revealed: 3.500. Valeriu Gheorghiță, the coordinator of the vaccination campaign, did not mention the number of those who got infected after the booster but he said it was “very small’.
