Florin Cîțu should have, as Finance minister, then as prime minister, “apply” for obtaining the ORNISS certificate, which eventually allows him to have access to top secret information, state information. Well, the questionnaire for ORNISS has a heading in which you have to answer if you had any convictions or not, in general, if you committed any crimes. In all your life, there is no time period specified.
In the American legislation, the crime young Cîțu was charged for seems to be assimilated to a felony conviction. It is called, exactly translated, “misdemeanor”, as the word “penal” does not exist in the legislation specific to the USA (see https://www.criminaldefenselawyer.com/resources/misdemeanor-crimes-classes-and-penalties.htm). In the ORNISS questionnaire are specified, however, “penalties for serious offenses like driving under the influence of alcohol”.
If Florin Cîțu ticked “YES”, therefore if he admitted, how did he obtain the ORNISS certificate? If he hid this fact… it is bad, especially if there is also a heading (affidavit) in which you sign that everything you said in the questionnaire is true.
Returning to the “YES” option, there would be something else to point out. Those who now say that they didn’t know (including the former prime minister), are lying. Ludovic Orban surely knew. So did President Iohannis. And others.
