According to the new organisational structure of the Cantacuzino Institute the BCG vaccine section has been shut down. That is exactly the department that would produce the vaccine against tuberculosis. It would not be such a big deal, things keep getting shut down, why should we care? Firstly, because they promised they would not shut anything down.
Secondly, because Romania is one of the top countries when it comes to tuberculosis. First in the number of cases, second in mortality, if we want to be very precise. Lithuania has the highest rate among the EU states, with 60 deaths to one million inhabitants. Our country is second, with 50 deaths because of tuberculosis to one million inhabitants. Of course, what does it matter that the chief of the section has earned his place by contest since 2018?
We will be back on Politica Dezastrului, in a few days, with an extensive material about the disaster caused by several radical changes in the Cantacuzino Institute.
